thanks for the list quime. its funny because there are probably thousands of different baile mixes that you can find on the streets of rio, but it is seriously even very hard to find them online. they usually only cost 5 reais, which is like $2, and piracy is not even an issue since the artists don’t many any money off of cd sales anyway.
i was working on a project this summer that would hope to change this, but as of now it seems much easier to locate mixes such as by Diplo, the I Love Baile Funk mix by Nossa (NYC), etc. where there were actual CDs put out in the states. i feel like there could be a huge potential for putting all of those great and hard to find Brazilian mixes online..

Hi there, I´m the compiler of the “Rio Baile Funk Favela Booty Beats” CD on Essay Rec. Please have a look at the website of my new label , I´ve just released two baile funk 12”es, one is produced by DJ Marlboro (D.M.Project´s “Habibi”), the 2nd one is “Popozuda Rock n´Roll” by EDU K (originally credited as DE FALLA, but EDU K wrote and sang the tune and rerecorded it). “Popzuda” comes with remixes by Diplo and DJ Sandrinho and a reggaeton remix by EDU K himself – probably the first reggaeton-baile funk-mash ever. There´s also the instrumental and acappella of “Popozuda” on the B-Side. Both vinyls are distributed by Forced Exposure in the U.S. and just have been released.
For spring 06´there´s more funk vinyl in the pipeline. I´ll keep you updated.
Big up for the site, keep the funk fever burning!!

For people here want more Baile Funk? I have over 1000 sons mostly from Rocinha and Borel favelas. I am born in Rocinha. I have Proibidao is ilegal musics from Rio too. I am Dj here in the US, visiting fro 2 years study English and spin music too. There are other genres of Baile Funk people need know about.
