Army National Guard So Desperate for Recruits It Reverts to Offering Free iTunes Downloads

September 29th, 2005 by ePebble

LP textIf you thought the Gap’s attempt to tie an iTunes give-away to trying on jeans was silly, the Army National Guard is now offering 3 (so much more than 1, kind of) free iTunes downloads when you agree to go through their recruitment pitch. That’s stooping a little low for the National Guard (and suggests that the counter-recruitment movement is picking up a little, or just that its job is getting easier), but it of course makes sense that the military needs to revert to such desperate measures to even get people to listen to their pitch these days. (The only reasonable result would be for them to blow money and lose face on giving away song vouchers to people with no intention of joining the national guard.)

I’m going to sign up, hear the pitch, then give them a big FUUUUCCK YOUUUU! at the end. Maybe show up drunk too.

Are you really that bored that all you have to do is pick a petty fight with the Army National Guard, of whom has done so much for you? Why did you even make this web site? Do you consider yourself a mature adult? In my opinion this is just another way for someone to knock others down who are actually doing something with their lives. How could YOU stoop so low?
