Cause if you’re going to make a fool of yourself, you might as well do it in style…

Harriet Miers’ Judicial Questionnaire

Wednesday, October 19th, 2005

In the words of the bipartisan Senate panel, “inadequate,” “insufficient,” and “insulting.” Certainly not the kind of person I want writing the decisions of the highest court in the land…

NIMF Distances Itself from Thompson

Tuesday, October 18th, 2005

This is associated with my recent unreasonable post: I never thought that I would argue that NIMF was being reasonable, but apparently no one wants the raving lunatic as their spokesperson. Jack Thompson’s recent behavior has made him some enemies in unexpected places, including his former allies at the National Institute on Family and [...]

Jack Thompson Gets Crazier, (Other) Reasonable People Retaliate

Tuesday, October 18th, 2005

Jack Thompson, an ambulance chaser and neo-Luddite with a beef against ludology (maybe because of the homophony), offered to donate 10 grand to charity if a proposed a video game in which video game industry members are brutally murdered were produced. The game was produced several times over, by several groups, after which Thompson declared his offer to be “parody” and refused to make the donation. After several attempts to hold Thompson to his promise, the (other) reasonable people at Penny-Arcade made the donation in Thompson’s name, to the ESA Foundation, a game industry charity supporting children’s welfare. (NB: In case Mr. Thompson ever reads this, I have provided links to wikipedia for all the big words).

Hypnotist Bank Robber

Saturday, October 15th, 2005

This guy is one step away from supervillain. Moldovian bank tellers, avert your eyes – the hypnorobber could strike at any moment! Putting his victims into a trance, he persuades them to fork over tens of thousands of dollars and then disappears, leaving nary a memory of the event behind – not a [...]

The Colbert Report

Thursday, October 13th, 2005

Last night I saw the second ever taping of The Colbert Report, parts of which will air when the show goes live next week. First off, it’s good to see that Comedy Central which managed to add the insult of Adam Carolla to the injury that was Colin Quinn has given up the ghost. [...]
